Wild Card Weekend in Review
Jacksonville Jaguars 31 > Pittsburgh Steelers 29
This was a fairly one-sided game until the 4th quarter, when the Steelers finally decided to make it a game. With a 1 yard touchdown run, Najeh Davenport gave the Steelers a one point lead with just 6:21 left on the clock. However the Jags were able to get into field goal range and with just 37 seconds remaining Josh Scobee kicked a 25 yard field goal to win the game.
Ben Roethlisberger played horrible for the first 3 quarters and he’s pretty much the reason why his team lost. Against the Jaguars you can’t throw 3 interceptions and expect to win.
Seattle Seahawks 35 > Washington Redskins 14
For the first 3 quarters this game was pretty boring to watch but in the 4th quarter both teams started to find the end zone. Late in the 4th the Seahawks defense picked off Todd Collins twice and returned each interception for a touchdown but I don’t fault Collins. The Skins are built to pound the rock but the coaches thought it would be a good idea to let their backup QB throw 50 passes in a playoff game — No wonder they lost…
New York Giants 24 > Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14
Did Eli Manning just have two great performances in a row? I’m impressed!
“Eli had a great game today,” Toomey said. “He took what was out there and didn’t force anything. He doesn’t get real excited; there is more than one way to lead a team … and he showed that today.”
Maybe there’s hope for Eli to become an elite quarterback in the NFL after all…I still my have doubts though.
Due to the pressure the Giants front 4 was able to put on Garcia, the entire Bucs offense looked unprepared and out of sync.
San Diego Chargers 17 > Tennessee Titans 6
If Kerry Collins would have played the entire game instead of Vince Young I think the Titans would have won this game. Vince didn’t look good at all and he’s proven over and over again this season that he can’t find the end zone. He locks onto his receivers and he’s was unable to make a big play when his team needed it most. I still think he’s capable of becoming a good QB in the NFL but he needs to learn to go through his progressions – If the Titans signed some better receivers it would help too.
