Rodney Harrison Is Returning
New England Patriots Safety Rodney Harrison has not even considered retiring and he believes the Patriots will be better in 2008.
“Right now, at this point, I feel like I’m going to honor the last year of my contract,” the 35-year old safety said. “Everyone’s asking me about retirement. I don’t know what to say about it. I haven’t said anything publicly about wanting to retire or anything like that. I’m very hungry to get back to working out and be a part of this team, and try to win another championship…. I’m going to take some time off to let my body rest, then I’ll be back in the gym in two or three weeks. I’ll be back, rejuvenated and ready to go.”
Harrison knows the Patriots will have another great chance to reach a Super Bowl.
“We still have the core guys here. And we have a lot of young talent in that locker room. We still have the best head coach in the league. So I don’t think you have to worry about the Patriots being competitive or even losing that edge.”
Harrison is a great player but father time has caught up with him and he isn’t the player he used to be. He can still be a great situational safety but he is no longer an every-down starter.
