Panthers Sign Muhammad
The Carolina Panthers have signed their former receiver Muhsin Muhammad to once again pair up with Steve Smith as one of the most feared receiver duos in the league.
“I did talk to Steve and he felt like he needs another complement on the other side of him,” Muhammad said at a news conference. “He kind of coerced me into coming back. He welcomed me back with open arms. … We’re excited about playing again with each other. We’ve always maintained our friendship outside of football.”
Carolina is absolutely the best place for Muhammad, he fits their system perfectly and he already has a great relationship with the team.
Thanks to this signing, Steve Smith has to be the happiest receiver in the NFL right now. Many times last year opposing defenses would triple team him because he was the Panthers only threat to score. If defenses try to triple cover Smith in 2008, Muhammad will be wide open for the score.
