Miami Selects Jake Long
It’s official, with the first pick in the NFL draft the Miami Dolphins select Jake Long, OT out of Michigan. After weeks of negotiations, Long has accepted a 5-year deal worth $57.75 million with $30 million guaranteed which will make him the first pick in this weekends draft.
“Jake was our guy from the beginning,” general manager Jeff Ireland said. “Jake Long was on the top of our board for a long time. There wasn’t a whole lot of debate. We thought it was a very good fit with the Miami Dolphins.”
As you can imagine, Long was very excited when he knew the deal was done.
“It’s such a great honor to be the No. 1 pick,” Long said. “I don’t think it has sunk in yet. It’s something every kid dreams about. I’m just real excited that it happened. Now I’m coming to a great place.”
Great pick Miami, now its time to focus on finding a quarterback.

jake long is a safe pick in many people’s eyes, but the there is a fatal flaw in his game that spells “bust”. he isn’t good at pass blocking. pass blocking is very hard to teach. the last OT drafted like this was robert gallery, and is now considered a bust. although i do wish the best for him and the dolphoins.
