Jets Owner Commited to Mangini
After just a 4 win season in 2007, Jets owner Woody Johnson has said head coach Eric Mangini and general manager Mike Tannenbaum will definitely keep their jobs for 2009 regardless of how they do in 2008.
“I really think it takes time to build a team,” Owner Woody Johnson told the New York Daily News. “You can’t do it in just one season.”
So if the Jets go winless in 2008 is it safe to assume Mangini will be back in ‘09?
Don’t bet on it.
I’ll be surprised if the Jets win more than 7 games this season and if they don’t, I would expect Mangini to be fired before the playoffs.
