Catching Up On Free Agency News
There has been a lot of free agent moves this weekend, here’s my thoughts on a few of them.
Asante Samuel signs with Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles defensive system is a good fit for Samuel but I’m anxious to see if he’ll live up to the big money.
If Philadelphia fans are expected a shut-down corner they’re setting themselves up for disappointment. Samuel is good, but he’s not that good.
Vikings sign Bernard Berrian
I like Berrian, he’s a very under-rated receiver but we’ll have to wait longer to see what he can do with a good quarterback. First he had Grossman in Chicago now Tarvaris Jackson? If Berrian had a good QB he would be mentioned with the best receivers currently in the league but that won’t happen anytime soon in Minnesota.
Lance Briggs Stays with Chicago
The Bears defense will remain strong after they re-signed Briggs but now they need to focus on the offensive side of the ball and find a quarterback.
Browns Grab Donte’ Stallworth
Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow Jr., and now Stallworth? These guys will give opposing defenses fits if Derek Anderson doesn’t regress.
Broncos Release Javon Walker
This move makes me wonder if Walker will ever be the same receiver he was before suffering those knee injuries. It won’t be long before a team picks him up but I’ll be surprised if any team offers him long-term big money contract until they know for sure that knee is healed.
Falcons improve their running game with Michael Turner
The combination of Jerious Norwood and Michael Turner has the potential to be the best “Thunder and Lighting” duo in the NFL today and both these guys should see an awful lot of carries because the Falcons passing game is non-existent.
Titans add Alge Crumpler
Crumpler is already Vince Young’s favorite target and they probably haven’t even been introduced to each other yet. Alge will open up a lot of space for other Titan receivers to get open and LenDale White will find a lot more running room up the middle.
