Calvin Johnson Loves Vicodin
Wide Receiver Calvin Johnson had a hard time staying healthy during his rookie season with the Detroit Lions so he started taking Vicodin to help cope with the pain and still be able to play.
“I was on meds the rest of the season. I was taking Vicodin twice a game just to get through the game,” Johnson said. “I stayed hurt the whole season, probably because I was trying to come back too soon. But I’m not going to be the kind of guy who’s going to say, ‘I can’t do this or this because I’m hurt.’ ”
I’m surprised the Lions let Johnson take a bunch of painkillers just to be able to play in his rookie season. I would think they would want to protect their $64 million investment and not risk further injury.
If Johnson is able to stay healthy and relatively pain free he’ll without a doubt become a superstar in the NFL but if he has to take a bunch of Vicodin every day the Lions may have a reason for concern.
