Was Trotter Released Due to a Joke?
Last Week the Philadelphia Eagles shocked everyone by releasing Pro-Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Trotter — But was it all because of a joke?

“When does a joke cost you your job? When it’s a joke about the boss and he doesn’t have a sense of humor. In this case, when Trotter was overheard joking about Andy Reid and his family problems concerning his sons in some locker room banter.”
“Word has it that this is the reason Trotter was so unexpectedly fired last week. The organization is offering no explanation for the surprise firing of one of it’s most likable players because, let’s be honest, how can you explain this reasonably to the fans. Something petty, like a joke should be no reason to let a guy go, but there seems to be no place for mentioning anything about the Reid situation around Eagle camp without severe repercussions. All the players know this, as should all the media, since Andy Reid makes this very clear before he starts any press conference. However, who knew he was so serious and vindictive enough to cut a fan friendly player just because he made an off the cuff joke about Reid’s family problems.”
I don’t know if this is true but what a horrible reason to lose your job. Trotter must feel like crap.
