Monday Morning Review — Week 8
Lions 16 > Bears 7
Brian Griese did his best Rex Grossman impersonation throwing for 4 interceptions. Somehow he managed to make the Lions defense look good, which they aren’t. I can’t put all the blame on Griese though – Cedric Benson is vastly overrated and shouldn’t be the starter anymore. Give his backup Adrian Peterson a shot, he can’t do any worse.
Steelers 24 > Bengals 13
Pittsburgh bounced back well after being upset by the Broncos last week. Hines Ward caught 2 touchdown passes, proving he can still get it done.
Cincinnati is now 2-5 and even though Marvin Lewis is a good coach his job is in jeopardy. I think both the Bengals and Lewis would benefit from a change.
Titans 13 > Raiders 9
You may not realize this, but the Titans are 5-2 and well on their way to the playoffs in the tuff AFC. LenDale White has looked impressive pounding the rock when he gets 25 or more carries in a game.
Josh McCown will likely reclaim the starting job from Culpepper next week against the Texans. C-Pepp hasn’t looked good throwing the ball; he’ll probably ride the bench for the rest of his career on various teams.
Browns 27 > Rams 20
Steven Jackson looked great in his return, the Rams were moving the ball at will but then he injured his back and had to leave the game — without him they never scored another touchdown and the Browns took control of the game.
Braylon Edwards has established himself as a top 5 receiver in the NFL. He seems to be on the same page with QB Derek Anderson. I’m starting to think Anderson isn’t just a fluke; he’s been impressive running the offense.
Giants 13 > Dolphins 10
I hope London enjoyed watching this boring game, because I didn’t. The muddy field caused a sloppy game.
Eagles 23 > Vikings 16
If the Vikings could find a good QB they would be a dangerous team. Unfortunately they were stuck with Brooks Bollinger after Holcomb suffered a neck injury in the 3rd quarter. Every game Bollinger starts the Vikings will lose, I say that with confidence.
Colts 31 > Panthers 7
The Colts looked pretty dominant on offense and the Panthers looked awfully bad on defense. Testaverde left the game in the 3rd quarter with tendinitis in his right Achilles’ tendon; David Carr replaced him but had a hard time moving the ball.
Bills 13 > Jets 3
Trent Edwards sprained his wrist in the 3rd quarter. J.P. Losman replaced him and connected with Lee Evans for an 85 yard touchdown; that was the only touchdown of the game.
The Jets are Horrible and that’s an understatement.
Chargers 35 > Texans 10
Philip Rivers only threw 11 passes but he completed 7 of them, 3 for a touchdown. Norv Turner looks like he figured out how to utilize all that talent.
Jaguars 24 > Buccaneers 23
Jeff Garcia lost this game for the Bucs. They would’ve won but his 3 interception killed them. The Jaguars looked worn out from last weeks game against the Colts but they were able to take advantage of Tampa Bay’s mistakes.
Patriots 52 > Redskins 7
I wonder if Portis still thinks he’s on the most talented team in the NFL?
If so, he needs his head examined.
Saints 31 > 49ers 10
The Saints are back on track after an 0-4 start to the season. Brees threw for 4 touchdowns, 3 of them went to Marques Colston. If you’ve benched him in your fantasy leagues make sure to get him back in your starting lineups.
Frank Gore left in the 3rd quarter with an ankle injury. He has struggled all season but I’ll be surprised if the 49ers can win without him.
