Monday Morning Review — Week 7
Bills 19 > Ravens 14
Buffalo proved they’re underrated football team after upsetting the now 4-3 Ravens. Baltimore probably would have won this game in the 4th quarter but horrendous play calling killed them.
Trent Edwards should remain the starter for the Bills, he’s not flashy but he gets the job done.
Lions 23 > Buccaneers 16
Tampa Bay did a good job of shutting down the Detroit passing game but thanks to the return of Kevin Jones the Lions didn’t need to rely on Kitna’s arm. An effective running game makes the Lions a feared offense regardless of the opponent.
The Bucs played well but couldn’t overcome 2 lost fumbles by Garcia.
Patriots 49 > Dolphins 28
What more can be said about the Patriots offense? They’re pretty darn good. Their defense however struggled at times against Miami.
Ronnie Brown hurt his knee in the 3rd quarter; he’ll undergo an MRI later today. Hopefully it isn’t serious, he’s been the lone bright spot for the Dolphins.
Saints 22 > Falcons 16
The Saints have won 2 in a row now, but this was a fairly easy victory for them, especially when Byron Leftwich left the game during the 3rd quarter due to a high ankle sprain. He is expected to miss around 4 weeks making Joey Harrington the starter once again.
Giants 33 > 49ers 15
The Giants have really improved since the first couple weeks of the season. If they played the Cowboys next week I would actually favor Eli and the gang.
49er fans should be concerned about star running back Frank Gore, who suffered an ankle injury during the game. He continued to play but there are rumors he’ll miss week 8. Hopefully his history of injuries won’t creep back up on him.
Redskins 21 > Cardinals 19
Despite the elbow injury Kurt Warner was able to play, but it wasn’t enough to come away with the win.
Washington didn’t play well but they found a way to win; that’s all they care about.
Titans 38 > Texans 36
It was the Rob Bironas show for Titans. He kicked an NFL record 8 field goals including the game winner with no time left on the clock.
Matt Schaub missed most the game with a sore back and hip but it sounds like he’ll be able to play next week when the Texans take on the Chargers.
Bengals 38 > Jets 31
Surprisingly Chad Pennington played a good game but then again the Bengals defense would make Ryan Leaf look good.
Still the Jets defense was no match for Cincinnati’s offense.
Marvin Lewis may let Rudi Johnson sit another week with a sore hamstring since Kenny Watson has played great, rushing for 3 touchdowns in this game.
Chiefs 12 > Raiders 10
This was another boring game that included the Kansas City Chiefs, but it doesn’t matter since they left with the W.
Culpepper may be benched if Josh McCown is able to return next week against the Titans.
Cowboys 24 > Vikings 14
If Tarvaris Jackson was a good QB, Dallas would have lost this game. Fortunately for them he’s not and the Cowboys won the game despite many mistakes.
Minnesota needs to hand the ball to rookie sensation Adrian Peterson at least 25 times a game – he only had 12 carries in this contest.
Bears 19 > Eagles 16
Brian Griese has saved the season for Chicago. He threw for over 300 yards and more importantly no interceptions. Can we finally forget about Rex Grossman?
The Eagles played good but the Bears were just the better team.
Seahawks 33 > Rams 6
The worst show on turf made Seattle look unbeatable even though they’re without Deion Branch and a good running game.
Good thing the Rams don’t play the Patriots this year, I honestly think the score would be 60-0 before halftime.
Broncos 31 > Steelers 28
This is why they play the games. I’m shocked Denver was able to put up 31 points on the Steelers without Javon Walker. Jay Cutler did a great job of distributing the ball among all his receivers and their defense did an outstanding job of getting pressure on Roethlisberger.
Speaking of Big Ben, he can’t hold onto the ball so long. The offensive line didn’t play great but they can’t be blamed when the quarterback holds onto the ball for 10 seconds.
