Monday Morning Review — Week 3

brett-favre.jpgPackers 31 > Chargers 24
The 3-0 Green Bay Packers proved they’re the real deal after impressively beating the San Diego Chargers Sunday afternoon and even Brett Favre is surprised, “Did I think we could be 3-0?” said Favre, “Probably not.”

The Chargers aren’t who we thought they were. They fell to 1-2 mainly because they have been unable to find a running game, granted they’ve played some tuff defenses but LaDainian Tomlinson is only averaging 2.2 yards per carry.

Will the Packers make my weekly Top 5 NFL teams? Be sure to check back later in the week.

Chiefs 13 > Vikings 10
If you missed this game don’t worry, be happy – it was boring. One thing that stood out, Adrian Peterson is definitely the real deal; Chester Taylor will have a hard time finding playing time when he returns.

Patriots 38 > Bills 7
The Patriots started off slow but in the end it wasn’t even fair, Randy Moss seems invincible and Brady is on his way to becoming the league MVP.

J.P. Losman was injured early in the game and never returned, Trent Edwards took his place and actually played better than I thought he would. Lee Evans continues to play dead.

Jets 31 > Dolphins 28
Chad Pennington was back and managed the game very well to lead the Jets to victory. Thomas Jones finally broke out and ran for over 100 yards.

It wasn’t the offense this time, instead the defense was the reason the Dolphins lost. Pennington is usually a statue in the backfield yet they were only able to sack him once. There was some good news for Miami; Ronnie Brown finally showed why he was a first round pick a few years ago. He had a total of 211 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Eagles 56 > Lions 21
Mcnabb shut up all of his critics for atleast 1 week. He threw for 381 yards including 4 touchdowns, 3 of them to wide receiver Kevin Curtis – Pick him up off waivers if he’s available in your fantasy leagues.

Steelers 37 > 49ers 16
Pittsburgh is a dangerous team right now and I would love to see them against the Colts or Patriots. Their offense is playing great, their defense is playing great but more importantly they are playing mistake free football. They shut Frank Gore down without difficulty.

Buccaneers 24 > Rams 3
There isn’t a bigger disappointment in the NFL right now than the St. Louis Rams (although the Chargers are close). They are freakishly talented on offense yet they couldn’t find the end zone against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Everyone knows their defense sucks but there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be able to score.

Ravens 26 > Cardinals 23
Baltimore dominated Arizona the whole game until Kurt Warner replaced Matt Leinart in the 2nd half. Warner played 100% better than Leinart and should be the starter next week, however Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt has already said Leinart will start. Horrible move in my opinion but maybe he enjoys losing.

Colts 30 > Texans 24
Without Andre Johnson I was surprised the Texans kept this game so close, with him they would have won.

Jaguars 23 > Broncos 14
Jacksonville shut down Javon Walker and Travis Henry, and that’s the key to beating Denver this year.

Raiders 26 > Browns 24
Lane Kiffin picked up his first win with the Raiders by defeating the Cleveland Browns. Neither the Browns nor Raiders are very good but so far they’ve been able to keep games close (with the exception of Cleveland’s week 1 loss to Pittsburgh).

Seahawks 24 > Bengals 21
Cincinnati is officially overrated again this year after losing to Seattle. Granted the Seahawks have a good team but they’re far from great. The Bengals defense can’t stop anyone which forces the offense to play a perfect game if they want any chance to win.

Panthers 27 > Falcons 20
Atlanta stinks and this should have been a blow out but a win is a win and the Panthers will take it.

Giants 24 > Redskins 17
The Giants didn’t play good, the Redskins just happened to play worse. Each team had their moments but I’d be shocked if either team makes the playoffs.

Cowboys 34 > Bears 10
Memo to Jerry Jones: It’s time to show Tony Romo the money, there’s no question he’s the real deal and better be the Cowboys’ quarterback for many years to come.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said for Rex Grossman. I know Rex is a nice guy but it’s time for Lovie Smith to swallow his pride and admit Grossman just isn’t any good. His mistakes are sucking the life right out of the Chicago Bears and I’m afraid the players will stop giving 100% of their effort if the change to Brian Griese isn’t made.
