Monday Morning NFL Review — Week 14

peyton-manning.jpgBills 38 > Dolphins 17
The dream of seeing a winless season is still alive! The pathetic Dolphins defense made Trent Edwards look like Tom Brady.

Bengals 19 > Rams 10
Cincinnati won as expected but with Brock Berlin starting at QB for the Rams this game shouldn’t have been this close. St. Louis has one of the worst defenses in the league yet the Bengals failed to score a touchdown in the entire 2nd half. Fortunately for them, Shayne Graham is a pretty good kicker.

Cowboys 28 > Lions 27
Heading into the 4th quarter the Lions had the lead 27-14 and it seemed like they had a great chance at pulling off the upset. But Tony Romo plays his best football in the 4th quarter and this game was no exception. With just 18 seconds left Jason Witten made his 15th grab of the day and the game winning touchdown.

Packers 38 > Raiders 7
Even with Brett Favre hurting, Oakland was no match for the Packers.

Chargers 23 > Titans 17
At one point in this game LaDainian Tomlinson was so disgusted with Philip Rivers’ poor play he refused to even sit next to him, but in the 4th quarter Rivers got his act together and made a few nice throws to force the game into overtime. Then LT scored the game winner with a nice 16 yard run.

Tomlinson needs to learn how to control his emotions during the game a little better. I know it’s not his fault Rivers sucks but LT’s attitude doesn’t help matters.

Giants 16 > Eagles 13
Maybe it’s true Eli plays better away from New York, he actually made it through the entire game without throwing a single interception.

For the Eagles it was McNabb’s first game back in 3 weeks, he played ok and didn’t make any mistakes but he didn’t make any big plays necessary to win a close game like this.

Jaguars 37 > Panthers 6
Were the Panthers even trying?

Texans 28 > Buccaneers 14
The Bucs desperately need Jeff Garcia back in the lineup, with him I think they would’ve won this game.

Sage Rosenfels has looked good running the Texans offense, If Schaub doesn’t play the rest of the season and Sage continues to perform well there may be a quarterback controversy next season.

Vikings 27 > 49ers 7
Minnesota won despite Adrian Peterson having an off day (14 carries for only 3 yards). Tarvaris Jackson continued playing mistake free football and the Vikings defense played excellent once again.

Trent Dilfer is doubtful to play for San Francisco next week after suffering a concussion. Some guy named Shaun Hill will start at QB for them…I guess he can’t be any worse than Alex Smith.

Seahawks 42 > Cardinals 21
If the Seahawks had a running game they could challenge the Cowboys and the Packers in the NFC playoffs. Unfortunately they don’t, but this was an impressive win.

Broncos 41 > Chiefs 7
Leave it to the Chiefs to make Jay Cutler actually look like John Elway, and Brandon Marshall look like Jerry Rice. Denver destroyed Kansas City in every phase of the game.

Browns 24 > Jets 18
I thought Cleveland would manhandle the Jets but a win is still a win. The Browns are now 8-5 and they’ll be a dangerous team in the playoffs if Jamal Lewis stays healthy.

The Jets should just forfeit next week’s game against New England. If he can, Bill Belichick will run up the score. After “Spy Gate” Belichick hates Mangini even more than he did before…and he hated him an awful lot before.

Patriots 34 > Steelers 13
Most people thought this would be a very close game, some people even thought the Steelers would win but not many people thought the Patriots would destroy them like they did.

I almost feel sorry for Anthony Smith; I hope he’s learned to keep his mouth shut before games. Never guarantee a win over anyone, especially the New England Patriots.

Colts 44 > Ravens 20
If Tony Dungy would have left his starters play the entire game Indianapolis probably would have scored 150 points. Peyton Manning is beginning to look more and more comfortable without Marvin Harrison and Manning and rookie Anthony Gonzalez are starting to get on the same page.

The Ravens were obviously exhausted after last week’s hard fought battle with the Patriots. They looked, slow, weak and unmotivated.
