Kyle Orton Named Bears’ Starter
With the Chicago Bears out of the playoff picture at 5-8, Head Coach Lovie Smith has named Kyle Orton the starting quarterback over veteran Brian Griese.
“Brian has done a lot of good things. We’ll just try to see exactly what Kyle can do,” Smith said.
Orton started 15 games as a rookie in 2005 but he hasn’t played since then.
”I’ve changed as a player and as a person,” Orton said. ”I’ve matured. I’ve been in the system now for three years.”
Like many people, I’m not expecting much from Orton but if plays great in the final 3 games there’s a slim chance he could be competing for the starting job in Chicago next year.
