Chris Chambers Becomes a Charger
Just before the trade deadline, the San Diego Chargers made a trade with the Miami Dolphins for veteran wide receiver Chris Chambers.
“It was a late development,” Chargers general manager A.J. Smith said. “One receiver down, one receiver in. We had an opportunity to add a quality, experienced, productive guy and felt we couldn’t pass it up. We like him a lot. We’ve held him in high regard throughout his career.”
Chargers head coach Norv Turner expects Chambers to make an immediate impact.
“We think he can add to what we’re doing on offense,” Turner said in a statement. “The bonus for us is that he’s familiar with the system. It should be a quick and easy adjustment for him. We expect him to come in and be productive right away.”
Miami will receive a 2008 2nd round draft pick for the WR.
For the last few years I’ve thought Chambers’ has been over-rated but in his defense he’s never been on a good offense and this will be a perfect opportunity for him to prove all of his critics wrong.
I’m curious to know why the Dolphins are getting rid of all their receivers. In the off-season they traded Wes Welker and now Chambers.
I know they really love Ted Ginn Jr. but he’s still an unproven rookie.
