49ers Lose Lawson for the Year

Linebacker Manny Lawson will miss the rest of the season for the San Francisco 49ers due to a torn ACL.

“I was really looking forward to doing big things this year for my team,” said Lawson, who feared the worst after hearing a pop in his knee. “The hardest thing is just knowing I won’t be able to be out there practising and playing in games with the guys.”

The 49ers selected Lawson in the first round (#22 overall) in the 2006 NFL draft. This is a big blow to their young defense; they will suffer a bit without him.
